What are categories?
- Categories are a way of arranging information so that related articles can be grouped together.
- You can create your own categories (see below) to group your pages together.
What are the advantages of categories?
- All articles within a category can also be displayed alphabetically to make it easier to find the article you are looking for.
- You can create your own categories to group your individual pages together around your classes, your research, etc. This is a kind of information "hub" that is a centralized portal for all the relevant information
How to create hubs?
- You create a 'hub' by placing category labels at the bottom of the page, and all pages with the same label are grouped together.
- To put an article in a category, you add [[category:CATEGORYNAME]] at the bottom of your article.
- For example, if this text is at the bottom of a page -- [[category:People]] -- then that page will be sorted with all the other "People" pages. If this text is at the bottom of a page -- [[category:Research]] -- then that page will be sorted with all the other "Research" pages.
Thus, you can create your own hub around anything -- you, your research, your classes, your journal articles -- by placing the labels at the bottom of the page.
