When should you consider doing internet research?
From PsychWiki - A Collaborative Psychology Wiki
When should you consider doing internet research?
- When you can use a convenience sample.
- When you can target the population online better than in the real world.
- When reducing the marginal cost of each subject is more important than reducing the setup cost - ie. a large survey
- When the survey contains open ended questions (research shows that people give better open ended answers online)
- When the survey contains interactive multimedia elements.
- When the survey contains embarassing questions that people may not want to answer truthfully when they may be identifiable (research shows that people give more truthful answers online, with less social desirability effects).
