This is an example of social learning theory because the parent, as one of the strongest role models, is providing a concrete example which is followed by her son. - - || 111222333 - |- - | Social Learning Theory  || - - '''Definition:''' Social Learning Theory: a theory presented and researched by albert Bandura states that aggression skills can be acquired through the behaviors of others. Generally through models, videos, family members and so on. - - '''Example:''' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lCETgT_Xfzg&feature=related - - '''Application:''' - In the following video social learning theory in accordance to the book (Human Aggression)is put to the test. Albert Bandura conducted a study in the 1960s with a "Bobo doll". The video exemplifies how children learn by example in this case an adult attacked a bobo doll by punching, kicking and slapping the object. The children where then placed in a play room after watching a video of the individual and the bobo doll. As Social learning theory states, the children did the same things the adult did in the video. They also grabbed the played dolls, hammers and guns to assult the Bobo doll. This study further confirmed that we mimick and learn certain behaviors in this case aggression by the example of people we look up to. family, adults and so on. However I would like to point out that in this study the children were placed in a play room setting thus allowing them to abandon reality and pretend that this was not a realistic situation, although the behavior asserts the theory it can also be bias, after all where the children ever asked why they reacted this way? - - || 111222333 - |- - | Racial Aggression || - - '''Definition:'''  According to the textbook, "Racial Aggression," the definition of racial aggression is, "highly prejudiced individuals directing stronger attacks against members of disliked outergroups than against members of their own group" (Baron & Richardson, 1994). - - '''Example:''' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aR2soCQsWlo - - '''Application:''' This is an example of racial aggression because two African American children and a mother, at a school bus, used derogatory racial names against a Caucasian child and preceded to beat her up. The racial name-calling and the follow up beating clearly illustrates that these people engaged in racial aggression against the Caucasian child. - - || 121343343 - |- - | social learning theory || 4 || 121343343 - |- - | e || 0 || 111222333 - |} - - - - - - - -
