List of prior "New Features" in reverse chronological order...

May 6th, 2007 - Graduate Student Survey

Have you ever wondered how you compare to other graduate students in terms of number of publications, posters, level of stress or debt, etc.? We are currently conducting a nationwide survey of graduate students to find out about graduate school experiences across the different years in programs (e.g., 1st year, 2nd year, etc). *Please note that the full results from the study will be submitted for publication shortly, but until then partial results from the survey will be updated every Sunday until the survey is completed.

February 26th, 2007 - Comment Form

We created an interactive Comment Form so that people can submit questions, comments, or suggestions directly to us (the admins) either anonymously or by providing an email address if they would like a response. We are also using that Comment Form so that people can "Nominate an Article" for the "Featured Article of the Month" on the Main Page.

October, 22nd, 2006 - Organizing Framework

We posted an organizing framework that serves as an organizing principle for the Psychology Concepts section. The Organizing Framework page discusses how creating a taxonomy of the Person and the Situation would be helpful to both the lay person and psychology researchers in providing a common structure for integrating topics within psychology, and providing a road map for researchers to travel that highlights important topics, new relationships, and unanswered research questions.

September, 23nd, 2006 - ResearchTemplates

Have you ever wanted your own webpage but didn't have the time/money to learn about obtaining a domain name, hosting, webdesign, HTML code, FTP, and etc. Wiki software makes it free/easy to create your own page, and it also allows interlinking to internal links about the type of research you conduct (see Psychology Concepts), links to your department homepage and your collaborators, and the ability to upload documents like your C.V. or research papers. In the Researchers section we have an "Add a Page" box where you can type in your name and it automatically creates a webpage for you that will be linked to the Researchers section. We also created "Researcher Templates" that you can copy/paste into your webpage if you want a more dynamic look to your webpage. We created a Researcher Template Guide and five Research Templates.

September 9th, 2006 - Google Scholar

We created a new editing tool where putting double brackets around text that ends in a "date" creates a link to Google Scholar. For example, typing this: [[Baron and Kenny, 1986]], creates this: (Baron and Kenny, 1986). "Google Scholar" is a freely-accessible web search engine that indexes the full-text of scholarly literature (including theses, books, abstracts and articles) across an array of publishing formats and disciplines.

September 9th, 2006 - Google search within PsychWiki

It is possible to use Google as your search engine when searching PsychWiki. The following link opens a Google search for only pages within PsychWiki. Open the link and type in what you are looking for ► Google search within PsychWiki

September 8th, 2006 - Sandbox

To see how easy it is to edit pages, we created a "Sandbox" where you can practice editing or experiment with different editing tools. After you login, click on the "edit" tab at the top of the page, and scroll down to where it says "Start here". Note that content added here will not stay permanently. We also posted an Editing Guide in case you have any questions or want to learn new techniques such as how to spell-check, create sections and links, use bullets and lists, etc. And for you more adventurous types who want to go the extra mile in creating distinctive and unique pages, there are links posted at the bottom of each section of the Editing Guide with more detailed information.

August 28th, 2006 - Getting Started

To help new users get acquainted with PsychWiki and the functionality of wiki software, there is now a section on the Main Page called "Getting Started" where we provide a concise overview of PsychWiki in the New to PsychWiki? page, and provide some background information about PsychWiki in the About PsychWiki, such as why we started PsychWiki and how to contact the admins. In the "Getting Started" section we also provide a concise explanation of the how to Search, Edit, and Practice using PsychWiki.

August 28th, 2006 - Did You Know

Did you know that there is an online effect size calculator on the Lyons & Morris website that allows you to calculate r, d, and z from different test statistics like t-test, ANOVA, chi-square, p-values, etc; or did you know that there is an Association for Psychological Science (APS) weblog of recent newsworthy research findings in psychological science called "We’re Only Human..." by the Director of Public Affairs Wray Herbert who is also a columnist for for the "Mind Matters" column. Found out about these fun facts and more in the "Did You Know" section on the Main Page which is updated weekly every Sunday.

August 28th, 2006 - Featured Article

PsychWiki has a new feature called "Featured Article of the Month" where a new article is chosen each month for display on the Main Page. Contact the admins if want to nominate an article.

July 17th, 2006 - Research Pages

Got some research that you want to share? Perhaps you could use some feedback on your unpublished research? Consider this an online poster session or symposia. We created a section called Research Pages where you can see some of the work done in various labs or share some of your own work.

July 17th, 2006 - Researchers
